Spring Nationals • April 8–10, 2027
By entering this event, you agree not to hold the BSS or the
landowner(s) responsible for any property loss, damage, accident, theft, or
injury incurred during the event. The BSS assumes no responsibility for damage
or injury sustained by handlers, their dogs, or their property, or for injury
to children who are not under the supervision of a parent or guardian. You also
grant the BSS, as the entity holding the rights to the event, permission to
publish event results and photographs in any and all BSS media outlets.
The Boykin Spaniel Society and Field Trial Committee are
thrilled to welcome all Boykin Spaniel “brown dog” owners to the 2027 BSS
Nationals—an extraordinary celebration of our 50th anniversary. Join us for a memorable
weekend honoring five decades of beloved dogs, treasured traditions, and the
enduring spirit of our Boykin family. Reconnect with longtime friends, welcome
new ones, and cherish the fellowship that makes this community so special. With
a full schedule of activities planned, please review your schedule and maps in
advance. If you need assistance, look for a marshal at each stake beneath the
orange marker flag.
Local landowners have generously provided all properties used
for this year’s events. As their guests, please respect the land, roads, and
facilities, and clean up after yourself, others, and your dogs. Before leaving
each location, take a few moments to help ensure it is left as you found it so
that we may be welcomed back.
Event information will be posted throughout the arena for your
convenience. If you have questions or need assistance, please look for one of
our Event Ambassadors or Board members, who will be easily identified by their
official event badges.

of the Camden Revolutionary War Welcome Center.

from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will be held at the Camden City Arena.

relaxing, reconnecting, and raising a toast to National weekend.
We’re especially excited to welcome our

All entries are accepted on the condition that the society, its officials, the membership and landowners are released from all liability for loss, damage or injury sustained by any dog or man in connection with or during the running of the trial. By signing, you agree NOT to hold the BSS responsible for loss of property or damage incurred during this event. By entry or attendance into this event you also give the BSS the right to publish the results, photos, and names and agree to have the results published in any BSS media outlet.

Help build a healthier future for the Boykin Spaniel by joining the Boykin Spaniel Foundation for our annual Heart and Eye Certification Health Clinic on Thursday, April 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Camden City Arena, 420 Broad St, Camden, SC 29020. DNA testing, patellar evaluations, and microchipping will also be available.
This event is exclusively for BSS members, and every dog tested
adds valuable knowledge that can support informed breeding decisions and
improve the health of the breed for generations to come. Heart and
eye clinics are by appointment only—scan the
QR code in your January 2027 magazine to reserve your
spot.
With a current membership, you receive
one complimentary heart exam and
one complimentary eye exam for your BSS-registered dog, and
the Foundation will cover all OFA recording fees. By adding your dog’s results
to our Registry, you help create a stronger
picture of breed health—giving breeders, owners, and researchers better
information to protect the Boykin Spaniel’s future. Your
privacy will be protected, and only aggregate data will
be shared. If you choose not to report results to the OFA, the dog’s owner is
responsible for the $100 veterinary fee per test.
Please bring your BSS membership
number and your dog’s BSS registration number to your
appointment. Your participation matters—together, we can preserve the health,
vitality, and future of the Boykin Spaniel. We look forward to seeing you!

REQUIREMENTS FOR PHOTO SUBMISSION:
• The owner of the pup must be a current BSS member
in good standing
• The pup must be BSS registered
• The BSS registration number (BSR#) must accompany the
photo along with the owner’s name.
• The pup must be 12 months or less WHEN the photo was taken
• The pup must be the primary subject of the photo
• There is a 2 photo limit per pup
• Photos must be at least 300 dpi and do not crop the photo to
resize. Send the original photo for best resolution
• Photos must be received at the BSS office via email at

August 15, 2023
• There will be a 1st Place Cover Puppy Winner and 2nd-4th

The Boykin Spaniel Foundation BSF is pleased to announce the hosting of its annual Health Clinic on Thursday, April 8th, from 10 am to 4 pm at Camden City Arena, located at 517 Bull Street, Camden, SC. This event is an excellent opportunity for Boykin Spaniel owners to ensure the health and well-being of their little brown dog. The clinic will offer a variety of essential health exams: patellar checks for $25, microchipping for $10, and discounted DNA testing with GenSol.
Furthermore, the BSF is pleased to announce that it will cover the submission fees for all OFA applications for registered Boykin Spaniels.
Attendees must be current members of the BSS and possess a registered Boykin Spaniel to participate in the free clinics. We look forward to seeing you at the clinic and supporting the health of our beloved Boykin Spaniels together.

For more than a decade, the Southern Boykin Spaniel Club has gathered dogs and people in the fields — sharing mornings that start with wagging tails and end with stories, laughter, and tired, happy dogs.This January, we’re grateful to once again come together at Watermelon Pond Plantation in Archer, Florida. Over the years, our group has changed — as dogs pass on, new Boykins join our families, and new friendships take root. Some of the dogs who once ran these fields now live only in our memories, while many of us will be meeting new faces for the first time. We are deeply thankful to Watermelon Pond Plantation for hosting us again and allowing us to gather in a place that holds so much meaning for our community.

2027 BSS Spring National Check-In Instructions

The 2027 BSS Spring National Headquarters is located at 420 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020. This is your main point of reference for the weekend’s activities.
- When you arrive, you’ll find parking available both in the main lot and the overflow area right at the arena.
- Enter through the doors at the covered portico. Don’t worry if you’re unsure where to go—there will be plenty of signs outside and inside to help guide you.
- Head to the far back left-hand corner for check-in. Holly Wright and Shannon Wooten will greet you there. These volunteers will sign you in, hand you your National program (which has your dog’s running number), and answer any questions you may have.
- If you purchased oyster roast and/or banquet tickets, they will give you wristbands for those events. Please keep these wristbands in your vehicle, as you’ll need them for entry to those activities.
- Look for clearly marked signs both outside and inside the building—they’ll point you in the right direction at every step.
- If you’re attending the health clinic, enter through the same wooden doors at the covered portico, but this time, head to the far back right-hand corner.
- Signs will direct you to the clinic area, where volunteers will be waiting at a table to welcome you and assist with check-in.
- Please bring a copy of your dog’s BSS certificate of registration. When filling out the OFA paperwork, use your dog’s BSR# in the “OTHER” registry number box.
- If you have more than one dog signed up, the fee is $55 per dog per clinic. We accept cash, check, or credit/debit card—whatever’s easiest for you.
- There will be tables for sitting while you complete paperwork and wait for your turn at the clinic. Feel free to ask volunteers if you have any questions during the process—they’re there to help!
- Before coming inside, please air your dog (give them a bathroom break). If an accident happens, a mop and bucket will be provided in the clinic area. We kindly ask that you clean up after your pet, as our volunteers are busy helping everyone have a great experience.

Since the inaugural SEWE was held in February 1983, we have become an important and highly-anticipated event in Charleston, kicking off the city's tourism season and becoming synonymous with Presidents' Day weekend celebrations. The original show hosted 100 artist and exhibitors and 5,000 attendees. Now SEWE welcomes approximately 500 artists, exhibitors and wildlife experts and 40,000 attendees annually, generating an estimated $33 million in economic impact every year.
We are proud of the legacy we have built in our community and the conservation world, and we are thankful to those who make SEWE a tradition every February.
While we continue to grow, evolve our vision and diversify our show to entertain our loyal attendees, one thing has not changed — we have and always will remain a celebration of wildlife art and the sporting lifestyle.
SEWE is as important today as it has ever been. Our organization's multifaceted mission is imperative on many fronts. Each event brings us closer to reaching the goals we set when SEWE was founded in 1983 — to make positive contributions, through entertainment, to the genre of wildlife art, conservation, education and the local, regional and state economies.
